Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I hire Inter-State Investigative Services?
Since 1994 IIS, Inc. has been providing quality investigations at reasonable prices to over 500 law firms, insurance companies, and corporations throughout Arizona and the United States. We have consistently reinvested in our infrastructure, resources, and investigators in order to maintain the highest level of quality services.
What can I expect to pay?
Cost is a function of many variables, to include the depth and complexity of the investigation required. However, have confidence in the knowledge that we work within predetermined budgets set by the client. We can, and often do, work incrementally within a predetermined budgetary authorization. Let us know your needs, and we’ll explain how we can help, within your budget.
What do I get for my money?
We will work diligently to obtain the information that you need to assist in your case or particular situation. Our results are forwarded to you in report or memorandum format during and at the conclusion of the investigation as needed. Reports can be simple overviews or as in-depth as you require and typically include the sources we checked and the results of the research. All reports are intended to survive disclosure if the client so chooses.
What does a background search include?
A background search will usually consist of a search of all relevant open-source records in a given locale. Our investigative reach spans the nation in this regard. Depending on the specifics of your case a background search can be as cursory or as in-depth as you require. Background investigations can be conducted in as little as one day, and are limited only by the desires, budget, and time constraints of the client.
Can you get bank records? How about a credit report?
Possibly. Several federal and state laws restrict banking and credit information to most of the public. In specific cases with a subpoena or judgment, some banking or credit information can be obtained. In addition, it is possible to glean banking information from certain public records. Call us for more details and information regarding your case.
Can you get telephone records or a non-published number?
It depends. Some records are legally available depending on the purpose and nature of your case.
How does surveillance work? Is it expensive?
Generally, we perform surveillance over the course of a few weeks to a few months and confirm the subject and location prior to entering the field. Generally, we do not follow spouses to determine their extra-marital activities (some rare exceptions are made, especially if it involves a court case; call us for details). While we can, and do, perform “stakeouts”, a more common strategy is to watch for activity for 1 to 4 hours at a time, after conducting research to determine when and where is the best place to do so. We charge a slightly higher hourly rate for surveillance, as it is a more difficult assignment that requires additional investigative skills. We can work within your budget, although realize that 7-10 hours is normally the minimum time required to perform a basic surveillance investigation.
